The vocabulary series
Four lists of high-frequency GRE words, each organized into meaning clusters so every new word comes attached to the words it competes with on test day. Work through them in order, one cluster per session, on a spaced review schedule.

A sensible path through the hub
- Baseline. Take one free ETS POWERPREP test cold to find your starting score and your weaker section.
- Foundations. Read the exam guide and the section guide for your weaker half (Verbal or Quant).
- Plan. Start the 8-week plan, or the 4-week plan if your date is close.
- Drill. Pair the plan with the practice bank and one vocabulary list at a time.
- Polish. In the final two weeks, redo flagged questions and rehearse the essay structure until it is automatic.

Where do I start with GRE prep on this site?

How many vocabulary words do I need?
More than most people want to hear. The four lists here cover roughly 150 high-frequency words grouped into meaning clusters, which is enough to move Verbal meaningfully if you learn them by cluster and review on a spaced schedule rather than cramming.
Is the Quant section hard?
The math itself rarely goes past early high school level. The difficulty is wording, traps, and pacing. The Quant formula sheet and the section guide cover the content; the practice bank shows how questions try to mislead you.
Should I take the GRE or the GMAT?
