In order to know GRE Test Pattern, read the table below which splits into Section type, Number of questions and Time allowed for each section. Before starting GRE Preparation, you should know the structure and pattern of GRE. Because if you know about GRE test pattern, you will able to prepare accordingly.

Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA)

Issue Essay

You’ll see a statement of 2 to 3 lines. You need to agree or disagree with the statement. Through a desktop computer keyboard , you have to type the essay that should be around 450 to 600 words in length. Explain your point with relevant examples.

Argument Essay

You’ll see an argument of one paragraph in length. You need to identify as many flaws in the argument as you can. Through a desktop computer keyboard , you have to type the essay that should be around 350 to 450 words in length. Explain each flaw with relevant examples, and write solution to remove flaw to make the argument strong.

Verbal Reasoning

After the break, you may have either verbal section or quantitative section. If verbal section come, you will need to attempt 20 questions in 30 minutes. Each question carries equal weightage, whether difficult or easy. One of the sections of quantitative or verbal will be experimental if it comes three times in exam.

After the first section, you may again have either verbal section or quantitative section. If quantitative section come, you will need to attempt 20 questions in 35 minutes. Again third section may be either quantitative or veral. If it’s verbal you’ll again need to attempt 20 questions in 30 minutes. One of the sections of quantitative or verbal will be experimental if it comes three times in exam.

Fourth section may be either quantitative or veral. If it’s quantitative you’ll again need to attempt 20 questions in 35 minutes. One of the sections of quantitative or verbal will be experimental if it comes three times in exam.

Finally, the last section which may or may not be the experimental. You cannot determine which section number was experimental. But you will know only whether the experimental section was quantitative, or verbal. It depends on number of sections that will come three times or two times. Which come three times is definitely has one experimental. And note that last section may not necessarily an experimental section.

Here, one of the sections after AWA section is experimental. Note that the experimental may be either a Quantitative or Verbal. And remember that experimental section is not necessarily the last section. It may be the first section after break, second section, third or even forth. So you must never think last section or first section as experimental. In fact you cannot determine which section was experimental. But you can only find whether experimental section was from quantitative or from verbal. Experimental section do not count towards score determination. But also you cannot find which section was experimental. So don’t assume any section as experimental.
